BIOGRAPHY

Anthony Price was born in Newport, South Wales into a musical family and began singing at a very early age being trained by his grandmother who had been a professional singer. As a treble he sang in the St Woolos Cathedral choir gaining many honours not least of which was to be a finalist in the ‘Chorister of the Year’ competition in 1980.

Anthony continued in the cathedral choir as a counter-tenor and also began singing with a number of groups such as the Occasional Singers of Salisbury and Cantores Sanctis Diebus, a group based at Edington, Wiltshire.

As a student he sang with the London Welsh Chorale and after graduating (pursuing a career as a computer consultant) he sang with the BBC Symphony Chorus and the choir of Hendon St. Mary, where he has given many performances under the direction of Richard Morrison.

Now living in St Albans, he is a Lay Clerk in the choir of St Albans Cathedral. Other local groups for which he has been a soloist include Chiltern Chamber Choir (Bach St Matthew Passion 2004, B minor Mass 2006) and St Albans Chamber Opera (Handel Jephtha 2006, Judas Maccabeus 2007).

His solo repertoire extends from early Tudor verse anthems, through Bach, Handel, Purcell, Vivaldi, Haydn and Mozart to Bernstein, Britten, Duruflé and Orff and even Gershwin and Cole Porter.
